To a farmer, every ounce counts

Startup company BST invents a better way to weigh

Hog farmers lose an estimated $200 million a year in penalties because they’ve miscalculated the weight of their swine.

But Georgia-based Body Surface Translations (BST) has developed 3-D imaging technology that instantly determines how much a pig weighs – with extraordinary accuracy.

The technology represents a collaboration between the University of Georgia and Georgia Tech, and GRA was instrumental in getting BST launched into the marketplace.

BST’s technology is now being licensed, and it has the potential to save the U.S. pork industry as much as $1 billion annually.
