Basement to bench to bedside
The lab of Wilbur Lam is an engine of ingenuity.
You may have heard of “bench to bedside” — turning something discovered in a lab into something that actually helps people.
Wilbur Lam and his team take that concept one step further. They come up with what-if ideas, then move them to the lab, then develop some of them into inventions that launch companies.
“It’s more like basement to bench to bedside,” he says. “And there are a lot of ideas in our basement.”
The Georgia Research Alliance helps bring promising Lam Lab ideas into the world. This new GRA video touches on a few of those — and shows why Lam chose to move his operation to Georgia. (Hint: It’s because our state has something no other state has.)
