CORE

Industry: Pediatric obesity

The Confidence Ownership Responsibility Exercise (CORE) is a program aimed at reducing adolescent obesity through exercise, nutrition and counseling support. Where other, shorter-term programs have failed to produce long-term results, a 2016 pilot study showed that CORE intervention brought big and enduring changes.

Approximately 21% of adolescents in the U.S. are obese. As obesity and its related health risks have become an epidemic, the need to counteract it has risen.

CORE operates outside of a clinical setting, providing a 12-week twice-weekly, high-intensity exercise regimen. That’s followed by weekly nutritional planning, behavior modification by licensed counselors and a mentor to help guide the youth in need.

Using universally accepted CPT codes to secure insurance reimbursement, CORE has the ability to expand its geographic footprint rapidly.
