EcoaTEX

Industry: Eco-friendly textile treatment

EcoaTEX uses nanocellulose-based textile finishing to develop an eco-friendly approach to coat and treat textiles. By using agricultural byproducts and natural raw materials, the company is able to save water and power.

The textile dyeing industry is a leading producer of wastewater, requiring 30 to 50 liters of water per kilogram of material. EcoaTEX’s use of nano-fibrillated cellulose (NFC) and nanocrystalline cellulose (NCC) decreases water use by a full order of magnitude and eliminates harsh chemicals in the dyeing process.

EcoaTex’s sustainable nanocellulose coating can be used as a host for functional molecules, such as dyes, electroconductive nanoparticles and nanothermocapsules.
