Currently available tensiometers, which measure soil moisture, cost the agricultural sector millions of dollars in deficiencies. They are either inaccurate, requiring manual inspection of soil to prevent unnecessary plant loss or are prohibitively expensive.
Reservoir is creating a product to overcome these limitations with Tensi, the first accurate, ultra-low-maintenance, affordable sensor to assess the availability of water to plants.
By evolving the technology past the traditional vacuum-gauge design – Tensi does not use a vacuum – Reservoir dramatically improves on ease-of-use. It reduces the need to travel to irrigation sites while protecting high-value trees and crops and minimizing the overuse of water, agricultural agents and energy.
Reservoir intends to sell Tensi directly to landscapers and international ag-tech companies with established distribution channels.
