Industry: Interventional device detection for MRI
A safety concern of MRIs is how the technology interacts with devices within a patient’s body. Catheters, guidewires, biopsy needles and other interventions devices can experience radio frequency heating during intraoperative MRI scanning, potentially harming the patient.
Safe-Trak is developing a novel technology that neutralizes this threat, replacing conventional metal cables on interventional devices with optical fiber cables. This acoustic-optical approach completely eliminates radio frequency heating while improving the quality of image around the interventional device.
