VQ Vest
Industry: Hospital intensive care units
In the context of ICU ventilator patients, proning is the practice of rotating patients onto their chests to promote healthy blood flow to the lungs. It takes as many as six clinicians to prone a patient.
The VQ Vest is a novel device that allows proning to be accomplished with only one clinician, and at zero risk to the patient. For rural and understaffed hospitals, the need for such a solution is great, especially for hospitals that cannot afford expensive ventilator hardware.
By expanding the ability of clinicians to perform proning, VQ Vest has the capability to address ICU proning needs in academic as well as clinical settings.
