Terminal Velocity Aerospace
Industry: Re-entry devices
Terminal Velocity Aerospace (TVA) is developing technology to help study what happens to a spacecraft when it re-enters Earth’s atmosphere from space.
The company’s first product line, RED-Data, aids in data collection during re-entry. While the launch vehicle and spacecraft break apart on re-entry, RED-Data is a small, affordable, expendable device that enables data collection and recovery. It allows researchers to study the performance of thermal protection systems on aircraft and develop better heat-shielding technologies.
TVA’s next product line will be larger, durable return capsules that are designed to be recoverable. These devices will hold a small payload, enabling a safe return flight for products from space.
Note: TVA was acquired by SpaceWorks in 2015.
