Thomas (Tom) P. Hackett serves as president and chief operating officer of Truist Securities, the corporate and investment banking division of Truist Financial Corporation, where he is responsible for leading a team of 700 professionals in a wide range of areas, including investment banking, mergers & acquisition and capital markets.
Hackett previously headed investment banking for Truist, advising corporations and financial sponsors on several initiatives in M&A and capital raising.
From 2015 to 2019, he served as the head of asset finance for SunTrust Robinson Humphrey, leading teams focused on asset securitization, asset-based lending, structured real estate, project finance and equipment finance.
Prior to joining SunTrust Robinson Humphrey in 2008, Hackett worked for the Citi Markets & Banking Healthcare Group, advising pharma and biotech companies on strategic and capital markets transactions. Before that, he spent seven years with Prudential Capital Group originating senior, mezzanine and equity private placements, ultimately as head of the London Office.
Hackett began his career at First Union in various capacities. He earned his bachelor’s degree in finance from Auburn University and his MBA from Emory University.
